  1. In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with a sprinkle of sugar. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. 
  3. To assemble the shortcakes, place one madeleine on a serving plate. Top with a spoonful of whipped cream and a layer of macerated strawberries. Add an edible flower on top.
